Target has 1,750 stores in over 49 states, with approx. 100 new stores open each year (click the map to the left for a simulation of Target's growth from 1962 - 2008). These sites frequently undergo renovations and updates to meet consumer demands.As of January 2011, Target purchased leasehold interests in 220 Canadian sites., with the hopes of being able to open 100-150 stores throughout Canada by 2013. They also have offices in India, which began as technology and support unit. Additionally, they own 34 warehouses located around the country that serve as storage and distribution centers for their merchandise. Products include well-known name brands and their private or exclusive label brands, which amount to 1/3 of total sales each year. In 2010, they reported sales of $65.8 million. They offer more than 38 brands in their private and licensed brands. Their largest brand, Market Pantry has more than 800 products under its label.

Target's workforce consists of approx. 355,000 team members. Employees work in every department instead of being assigned a specific area, so they know the whole store. Staff are allowed to buy stock in the corporation. There is a high retention rate among upper-level employees, but a lower rate in mostly part-time store employees.

Intellectual
Target maintains a good reputation amongst consumers through charity work and community outreach programs. They frequently participate in events that lead to free publicity, or goodwill. Their 2010 Annual Report estimates goodwill and other intangible assets at $239 million. Consumers show their appreciation of such actions as well; support includes a pro-Target Facebook page.

Target offers well-like private brands, as well as exclusive brands from outside contractors. They regularly interview consumer segments to keep up with ever-changing wants, needs, and fads.
Financial
For their consumers, Target offers credit through two credit cards, including the private label REDcard. They reported $1.6 million in credit card revenue for 2010.
They are authorized to issue 600 million shares of common stock and 5 million shares of preferred stock. As of Aug 8, 2011, there were 13 million shares of common stock issued, with a price of an average price $46.44 per share, which is down from $55.31 (as per the January 29, 2011 figures posted in their 2010 annual report).
